Tottenham considering Julian Brandt as Eberechi Eze alternative

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham are looking at Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt as an ideal alternative to Eberechi Eze.

According to a report from Football Transfers, Tottenham are looking to add more creativity to their team in the upcoming transfer window, and they are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt. The North Londoners are keeping a close eye on his situation at the German club and could soon launch a move for the 28-year-old.

Brandt made the move to Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2019 after making a name for himself at Bayer Leverkusen. Over the years, the Bundesliga veteran has gone from strength to strength and has established himself as a key figure in the German club.

He has been involved in 18 matches and has contributed towards seven goals this season. While Brandt remains an important first-team player under Nuri Sahin, his long-term future looks uncertain with his contract running out in the summer of 2026.

Tottenham’s failed pursuit of Eze

Tottenham are looking to prise Julian Brandt away from Borussia Dortmund. The North London club wanted to sign Eberechi Eze during the summer. They even invited his family to attend the North London Derby towards the end of last season as they looked to secure his services.

Unfortunately, a deal could not be struck during the summer transfer window. While they retain interest in the services of the 26-year-old Crystal Palace star, Spurs only have a limited budget to play with for the upcoming transfer window.

Spurs keen on signing Julian Brandt

Signing the English international will require a massive investment, which does seem to be beyond their financial capabilities at this stage. As a result, they are looking to push for the services of Brandt, who could be a cheap alternative.

Tottenham feel he can not only cover for James Maddison but also help rotate their forwards thanks to his versatility. More importantly, with just 18 months left on his deal, Borussia Dortmund could consider an offer to negotiate his departure as they won’t want to lose him on cheap six months down the line.
