Leicester City line up Victor Lindelof swoop

Leicester City are reportedly interested in signing 30-year-old Swedish defender Victor Lindelof from Manchester United.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Leicester City are ready to provide Victor Lindelof with an exit route from Manchester United. The Swede has spent seven seasons at Manchester United, and he has been a useful squad player for them.

However, the 30-year-old has fallen down the pecking order since the arrivals of Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro in the summer transfer window. Lindelof needs to play more often at this stage of his career, and Leicester City might be able to provide him with that opportunity.

The Foxes have appointed Ruud van Nistelrooy as their manager, and the former Manchester United striker could play a key role in getting the transfer across the line. His contacts at Old Trafford could help facilitate a move.

Furthermore, the Dutch manager has worked with Lindelof during his time at Manchester United recently, and he could help convince the defender to join Leicester City as well. Recent reports have also linked Leicester City with other Manchester United players, including Toby Collyer.

Meanwhile, Lindelof will want to play regularly, and Manchester United cannot provide him with that opportunity. It would be ideal for him to move on in January and join another Premier League club. The Foxes have looked quite poor at the back, and they need to tighten up defensively if they want to survive in the Premier League.

Leicester City need a quality defender

Signing a proven defender like Lindelof could prove to be a wise decision for Leicester City. There is no doubt that the Swedish international has the quality to improve them, and he could start for them regularly as well. The move would make sense for all parties.

Manchester United should look to cash in on the player and bring in reinforcements in January. They need to improve the other areas of their squad if they want to secure European qualification for the next season.

The Red Devils have endured a mediocre first half of the 2024/25 season so far, and the Red Devils will be desperate to bounce back. Lindelof is very much at the peak of his powers, and he knows the Premier League well. He should be able to settle in quickly at the King Power Stadium and make an instant impact for them.
