PSG rival Real Madrid in Lisandro Martinez race, player set for Manchester United stay

Lisandro Martinez is not thinking about leaving Manchester United anytime soon despite big interest coming in from Real Madrid and PSG.

According to Caught Offside, Real Madrid and PSG are set to suffer a blow in their chase of Lisandro Martinez, with the defender not thinking about a move. Manchester United view the Argentine defender as a key member of their squad for the present and future, as a new contract could be on the cards.

Manchester United had to pay big money to bring Lisandro Martinez from Ajax amid rival interest from the likes of Arsenal. The Argentine international has emerged as a key player for the team first under Erik ten Hag and is now looking to do the same under new boss Ruben Amorim.

The Argentine was a key member of the World Cup-winning squad in 2022 and has since seen his reputation soar on the world stage. While he has been blighted by injuries resulting in missing a lot of games, when fit, the centre-back is the first name on the team sheet.

Manchester United are aware of the growing interest from some of the European giants, but they are hesitant to sell him anytime soon. Martinez has a contract until 2027 plus an option to extend it by another season, meaning the Red Devils are relaxed about the situation.

Manchester United are already thinking about a new deal for the defender, who in turn, is not thinking about leaving the club anytime soon. The decision from the 26-year-old Manchester United star will see the likes of Real Madrid and PSG disappointed, as they had hoped to lure the centre-back away from Old Trafford.

PSG and Real Madrid are still interested in Lisandro Martinez

Despite what appears to be a setback in their chase for Martinez, Real Madrid and PSG could continue to hold an interest in the defender. PSG have been looking for a well-established centre-back as their recent interest in William Saliba suggests. With the Arsenal star unlikely to be available anytime soon, the next best target might have been the Argentine.

Real Madrid have a lot of defensive decisions to make in the next windows as they have some ageing centre-backs to refresh in the future. Martinez is rather seen as a solid target, and given how South American players are often attracted by the prospect of joining one of the Spanish giants, Real Madrid might have a favourable lure compared to a club like PSG in Martinez’s case.
