Daniel Svensson backed for Leeds United move instead of Liverpool

Leeds United are ready to battle giants Liverpool for the services of Swedish defensive sensation Daniel Svensson.

According to a report from FotbollDirekt, Daniel Svensson’s impressive performances for Danish club Nordsjaelland have put him on the radar of Liverpool and Leeds United. Both clubs are quite impressed with the Swedish sensation who can feature as a left-back and in central midfield.

The player has been back to join Leeds by FotbollDirekt expert Lars Gram-Hanssen.

He said: “I think Daniel Svensson would be interested in a move to Leeds. They are number one in the Championship and it could be a chance to go to a club where he would have a good chance of being a starter from the start.”

Svensson was a part of the Brommapojkarna setup back in the day. He went up the ranks at some pace and made it to their first team at the start of 2020. Just six months after getting promoted to the senior side, the 22-year-old ended up securing a move to Denmark to take the next step in his career.

While he had to grind hard to break into Nordsjaelland’s first team setup, the move to Denmark has surely helped his cause. He has gone from strength to strength and his consistent performances have attracted a significant amount of interest.

He had an impressive season last time out as he contributed towards 16 goals with the majority of his appearances coming in midfield. While he has been used as a left-back for the majority of the new season, he remains one of their most consistent players.

Svensson could move to England in January

His abilities, versatility and huge potential have resulted in interest from Liverpool and Leeds United. The Championship outfit are pushing hard to secure a return to the top flight. They are currently third on the table and are looking to reinforce their squad in the winter to ensure they can climb back up to the top of English football.

Leeds have monitored Svensson for a while now and they consider him to be a perfect fit for their system. But, they will face serious competition from Liverpool who seek more quality in midfield and are also looking to bring in a new left-back with Andrew Robertson on the decline.

While both English clubs are looking to raid Nordsjaelland in the winter window, the Danish club want to keep hold of the Swedish international until the end of the season. More importantly, the player also prefers staying at his current club until next summer.
