Fulham and West Ham United are plotting a raid on Championship outfit Burnley for the services of their skipper Josh Brownhill.
According to a report from TBR, Josh Brownhill’s future is becoming an interesting talking point. The Burnley skipper’s contract runs out at the end of the season and there is a significant amount of interest in his services from Fulham and West Ham United.
Brownhill who was a part of the Manchester United youth ranks back in the day joined Burnley at the start of 2020. He has been a consistent performer for them over the years and is currently their skipper.
While the 28-year-old midfielder is the go-to man for the Clarets, his future is uncertain with his contract running out at the end of the season. Burnley are struggling to tie him down to a new deal and Fulham and West Ham are keen on taking him back to the English top flight.
The English midfielder already has five goals and an assist in his 16 outings this season. He is just three goals away from making the 2024/25 campaign the most prolific season of his career. His red-hot form along with his expiring contract has made him a hot property for the upcoming transfer window.
Brownhill will be free to sign a pre-agreement with foreign clubs in January and with a new deal very unlikely, Burnely will now have to decide whether they want to cash in on him mid-season or risk losing out on him for free at the end of the season.
Brownhill to return to the Premier League
West Ham and Fulham are both keen on prising him away from the Clarets. The Hammers have a long-standing interest in the 28-year-old. They were interested in him during the summer and wanted to sign him five years back when he turned them down to join Burnely in a deal worth £9 million.
The Irons are looking to add more quality to their midfield and they feel the Burnley skipper could help their cause. He has the experience to help them bounce back following a poor start to the new season. The Cottagers also want to reinforce their midfield and they have been keeping a close eye on Brownhill’s situation as he could be available for a cut-price fee in the winter.
