Crystal Palace, Tottenham, West Ham United vying for Andy Diouf

A trio of London-based sides are vying for the signature of Andy Diouf after his impressive start to the season with RC Lens.

According to Give Me Sport, at least three London-based sides are set to battle for Andy Diouf’s signature. The RC Lens midfielder has been impressing since joining the Ligue 1 side, with Tottenham, Crystal Palace, and West Ham United all considering approaches ahead of the January window.

RC Lens paid €13 million to FC Basel to sign Andy Diouf, one of the promising midfielders around. The 21-year-old has been excellent for the Ligue 1 side and operates in a competitive midfield while being able to play at least three positions in the middle.

The youngster has excelled as a central midfielder, and his manager can use him in a deeper or more advanced role depending on the game state. Lens are protected by a long-term contract that Diouf signed, meaning they are not in a hurry to sell him, although a big bid coming in could change their thinking.

Tottenham are among those keen on Diouf and have been watching him in action. Spurs have recruited young players, particularly in their midfield, with the huge outlay on Archie Gray in the summer. Lucas Bergvall also arrived, and now their interest in the Ligue 1 midfielder suggests they will continue on that path to build towards the future.

West Ham United are the other club keen on signing him. The Hammers were also among those who invested in their midfield during the summer. They are also open to investing in young stars, and Diouf might fit the bill for the project undertaken.

Is Andy Diouf Premier League-bound?

Apart from those two, Crystal Palace are also in the mix as they are keen to recruit a young midfielder to their ranks who can be a bit punchy in his game and complement the other attacking stars. For Lens, it might come across as a market opportunity of sorts, as they will undoubtedly look to maximise their profit over their young midfielder.

Having paid €13 million, the French side is likely to ask a significant fee for the Ligue 1 midfielder, who will also get a massive increase on his £15,000-a-week  pay. Hence, there is a big chance for Diouf to make it to the Premier League, should any of those three clubs make a formal bid for the midfielder.
