Swedish attacking sensation Alexander Isak has decided to part ways with Newcastle United in the summer of 2025.
According to a report from TBR, Alexander Isak could push for a move away from Newcastle United as contract renewal talks between the two parties have taken a massive turn in recent weeks. The Swedish international has attracted a significant amount of interest of late and there is a high possibility of a move away next summer.
Isak made a name for himself while playing for Real Sociedad before making the move to the Magpies in the summer of 2022. He has only gone from strength to strength since moving to England and has been one of the go-to men for Eddie Howe.
The Swedish international has established himself as one of the best young forwards in the Premier League and his performances have attracted a significant amount of interest. While he had a slow start to the new season, the 25-year-old has scored in each of their last four outings.
Newcastle are well aware of the fact that their star striker is on the wishlist of quite a few top clubs. As a result, they were looking to secure his long-term future by offering him a new deal with improved terms. But, their plans have taken a major hit.
Renewal talks with Isak haven’t gone as planned
After extending the stay of Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon, Isak was the next in line. While they have been in talks with him since the start of the year, they haven’t been able to strike a deal. Howe had confirmed that certain issues have arisen regarding a new deal because of ‘PSR’ concerns.
With the player tied to a contract until the summer of 2028, the Magpies were not really worried about his situation. But, the player and his camp were looking forward to a new deal as it would place him with the highest-paid players at the club.
Talks between the two parties had intensified during Easter but nothing came of it. The Swedish international’s camp have been left shocked by Newcastle’s stance over a new deal. While both parties were expected to reach an agreement by now, the report suggests multiple hurdles have emerged and one of them is a prospective release clause.
The current situation of the player has put interested clubs on red alert. The report suggests Newcastle could now look to cash in on him as Isak is pushing to leave the club at the end of the season.
