Tottenham have no intentions of sanctioning the departure of their defensive mainstay Cristian Romero amidst interest from Real Madrid.
Real Madrid have a long-standing interest in the services of Cristian Romero who has been doing wonders for both club and country. Los Blancos are looking to reignite their pursuit of the Argentine international but according to a report from Football Insider, Tottenham are unwilling to sell their star defender.
Romero made a name for himself at Atalanta before making the move to the Premier League. He hasn’t looked back since joining the Premier League outfit and has won all major titles with the national team in recent years.
The 26-year-old centre-back has centre-back has established himself as one of the best players in his position and his work for the North London club hasn’t gone unnoticed. The Spanish giants are quite impressed with his performances and they are considering making a move for him as they look to bolster their backline.
Madrid failed to strike a deal for a new defender in the summer and they entered the season sort of numbers at the back following Nacho’s departure. Things have gone from bad to worse for them as David Alaba is yet to return to full fitness and Eder Militao has suffered a serious knee injury which will keep him out of action for a long time.
Spurs won’t sell Romero
Los Blancos are in desperate need to add more quality to their backline and Romero is quite high on their wishlist. While they are plotting a move for the Argentine centre-back, Spurs are in no moods to entertain bids for the services of the former Atalanta star.
They are desperate to keep hold of their star defender whose contract at the club runs until the summer of 2027. While they haven’t made any advance on a potential new deal, they are planning to add more quality to their backline in January and offloading their mainstay is not even an option for them at this stage.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team will have to look at other targets as they look to reinforce their backline following the serious injury to Militao.
