Joshua Zirkzee will not leave Manchester United in January despite recent rumours of an exit, as he is considered a vital part of this squad.
According to Give Me Sport, Manchester United are not thinking about offloading Joshua Zirkzee despite recent exit rumours. The Dutch striker is still considered a key part of the club’s future and is expected to play an important role under Ruben Amorim, especially in the busy festive period ahead.
Manchester United fans are looking forward to what new boss Ruben Amorim brings to the table. The 39-year-old is set to manage his first game in the dugout after the international break after he leaves Sporting CP at the weekend, and his midweek win over rivals Manchester City did provide a glimpse of what he brings to the table.
Either way, some rumours are linked to his arrival, such as the reports suggesting Manchester United will sign Viktor Gyokeres as their new striker. There is a possibility that Amorim brings the Swede, who has developed rather tremendously under him, to Old Trafford, and Joshua Zirkzee is seen as the striker to make way.
Zirkzee had a fantastic debut in the Premier League by scoring a late winner against Fulham on the opening night. The £36 million summer signing looked good value on that day. However, since then, he has failed to score a goal, and with that, rumours of an exit and a return to Serie A have been reported in the media.
The return of Rasmus Hojlund from his injury made the Dane the starting striker, and Zirkzee had to settle for a place on the bench. It is also understood that former manager Erik ten Hag did not want the Dutchman’s signing in the summer, which has raised further doubts. The 22-year-old fits into INEOS’s mould of the kind of profile they want for the club, which effectively rules out an exit in January.
Zirkzee to stay at Manchester United
Whether Manchester United buy a new striker like Gyokeres may not directly affect the future of Zirkzee. In fact, the £36 million summer signing is seen as a key part of the club’s future, which is why INEOS invested in the Dutchman.
In fact, the striker is expected to get ample minutes in the busy festive schedule after the international break as the club continue to back him to shine eventually. In truth, there’s been far little time to judge the young striker to perform at the pressure-inducive conditions laid out at Manchester United. While he has plenty to prove, there’s enough time on his hands to do so, as Zirkzee is expected to shine at the club.
