Manchester United are keen on acquiring the services of Everton defensive sensation Jarrad Branthwaite next summer.
Manchester United have already started planning for the next summer window. According to a report from talkSPORT, the Red Devils are keen on signing Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite. They want to further bolster their defence, and the English international could be an ideal fit in new boss Ruben Amorim’s system. However, Liverpool are also interested in the youngster
Branthwaite has only gone from strength to strength since getting promoted to the first team of Everton at the start of 2020. While he has only started one league game for the Merseyside club this season because of fitness issues, the 22-year-old has made quite a name for himself with his consistent performances last season.
Manchester United to return for Jarrad Branthwaite’s signature
The Englishman was on the wishlist of Manchester United last summer, and they did knock on the doors of Everton on multiple occasions. But, their bids worth up to £50 million were turned down by the Toffees. While United ended up signing Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt in the summer, they remain interested in the services of Branthwaite.
The Everton defender remains at the top of their wishlist to reinforce their backline, with Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof’s contracts running out at the end of the season. Their sporting director Dan Ashworth believed the Everton centre-back would suit Amorim’s play style and he won’t have a problem playing in a back three.
While Manchester United are plotting a fresh move for the 22-year-old centre-back and they look all set to once again test Everton’s resolve next summer, they are not the only club who are keen on his signature. There are quite a few top clubs in Europe who want to sign Jarrad Branthwaite.
Liverpool could cause problems for Manchester United
Liverpool have a long-standing interest in Jarrad Branthwaite, and they could rival the Red Devils in their pursuit. The Merseyside club are looking for a world-class centre-back who could replace Virgil van Dijk in the long run. The Dutch defender’s contract is running out, and he is in the final phase of his career. As a result, next summer could be an ideal time to invest in Branthwaite who has immense potential.
