Juventus are seeking a new centre-back and want to explore a move for Joachim Andersen ahead of the January window.
According to Juventus-based journalist Giovanni Albanese, Juventus could explore the idea of signing Joachim Andersen ahead of January. The Danish defender only signed for Fulham back in the summer, and to let him leave would require a massive bid from the Bianconeri, who are seeking a new centre-back.
Joachim Andersen’s career took a new turn in the summer when he readily swapped Crystal Palace over a return to Fulham, where he had spent a season on loan before. The Dane has since become a crucial part of Marco Silva’s side this season, with a decent start to life back in west London.
Fulham paid £30 million to sign Andersen over in the summer, and he will be the least of their worries heading into the January window. However, Juventus are in the market for a new centre-back and have added Andersen to their shortlist of targets.
Juventus suffered a massive blow with Gleison Bremer’s season-ending knee injury earlier in the campaign. It has dislodged Thiago Motta’s big plans for the future, and they are already thinking about bringing in a replacement for the Brazilian in January. The Andersen idea seems reasonable enough if they are serious about adding a quality defender, but his price point will prove too difficult for Juventus to comprehend.
Fulham will not want to let the 28-year-old key star leave so soon after signing for the club. Even if they feel he’s expendable after six months at the club, Silva’s side will demand significantly more than the £30 million they paid in the summer, which may not suit Juventus.
Juventus looking at other centre-backs
Andersen is an exciting addition to a long list of options Juventus could target ahead of January. Kakub Kiwior was considered earlier, although Arsenal is unlikely to sell him in January. Former Liverpool man Joel Matip is also on their list, and the Cameroonian is available on a free transfer.
Tottenham’s Radu Dragusin is also a target, with mixed reports suggesting the player might be open to a return to Serie A and others stating Spurs will not sell. Ideally, someone like Matip could be a good addition, as all of their other targets will be expensive for a January addition, while the former Liverpool man will represent a short-term solution until Bremer returns.
