West Ham United in transfer tussle to sign Stefanos Tzimas

West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing 18-year-old Greek striker Stefano Tzimas, but they face competition from La Liga and Serie A clubs.

According to TBR Football, West Ham United are interested in 18-year-old prodigy Stefanos Tzimas, who has done quite well since his loan move to German club Nurnberg. The young striker is highly rated across Europe, and he has shown his quality in the second tier of German football this season. He is being mentored by the German football legend Miroslav Klose.

Several clubs are keeping tabs on his development, and it will be interesting to see if West Ham can get the deal done. It is no surprise that West Ham are looking to sign a quality striker, and recent reports have linked them with several centre-forwards, including Yuri Alberto.

The East London club signed Niclas Fullkrug in the summer transfer window, and the former Borussia Dortmund striker has struggled with fitness issues this term. The likes of Michail Antonio have been quite underwhelming as well.

Signing a quality striker should be a top priority for West Ham right now. It will be interesting to see if they can get a deal done for the 18-year-old. The Greek under-21 international is highly rated in his country and he is expected to develop into a world-class player. He is already regarded as a generational talent in Greece.

Tzimas could fancy Premier League move

The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be quite exciting for the 18-year-old, and it would be a major step up in his career. He will look to prove himself in English football with West Ham. They will be an attractive destination for the player. Furthermore, he would get to work with a quality manager like Julen Lopetegui at the London club.

It will be interesting to see if West Ham are ready to break the bank to sign him. Nurnberg reportedly have an option to sign him for a fee of around £15 million. So, it is expected that West Ham will have to pay a similar amount if they want to sign the player. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Regular football in England could accelerate his development and help him fulfil his potential. However, the striker must seek game-time assurances before making the move to England. Sitting on the bench at West Ham is unlikely to benefit him.
