Napoli need to offload players before signing Radu Dragusin, winter move unlikely

Napoli are unlikely to land Tottenham’s defensive talent Radu Dragusin in January, as they must offload players first.

According to Luca Marchetti via Calcio Napoli 24, Napoli could look to reinforce their backline in the winter, and they are interested in the services of Radu Dragusin, who has only had limited game time at Tottenham. While the Partenopei would love to sign him, they will have to offload the player first which makes a potential deal very unlikely.

While things did not work out for him at Juventus, the move to Genoa helped him make a name for himself and earn a move to the North London club at the start of 2024. Ange Postecoglou was keen on adding the 22-year-old to his squad as he wanted to strengthen his defensive rotation.

Spurs did succeed in bringing him to the club, but he has only had limited game time, which could have frustrated the young Romanian international. He has only started one league game this season and has been involved in just five fixtures across competitions.

While his contract at Tottenham runs until the summer of 2030, he could push for a move away if he does not end up getting more minutes. If Dragusin is made available during the winter window, there will be no shortage of interest as Dragusin is a huge prospect.

Napoli unlikely to sign Dragusin in January

Antonio Conte’s Napoli could look to make the most out of it. They lack depth as well as quality at the back, and a defender like Radu Dragusin could be a sensational signing for the short as well as the long-run. However, they are not going to find it easy to sign him.

Having spent a significant amount on player transfer during the summer, Napoli are unlikely to have enough budget to play with during the winter. The fact that they failed to offload Victor Osimhen during the summer has hurt them big time.

The Partenopei need to offload a few players before they can make a move for Radu Dragusin. While there are quite a few players who look surplus to requirements under Conte, the Serie A giants are unlikely to sanction their departure in January making a potential signing of the Tottenham centre-back next to impossible. They will have to wait until the summer of 2025, which could increase the amount of competition.
