Brighton & Hove Albion eyeing Dwight McNeil swoop

Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly interested in signing 24-year-old English attacking mainstay Dwight McNeil, valued at €30 million by Everton.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Dwight McNeil is the subject of interest from Brighton & Hove Albion. The Premier League club will dip into the market for an offensive reinforcement next year. The Everton attacking mainstay has thus emerged as a target, with the Merseyside club demanding around €30 million to part ways with the English winger.

Dwight McNeil and his long Premier League journey

Dwight McNeil has been a mainstay in the final third for Everton since arriving from Burnley in July 2022. A native of Rochdale, the Englishman began his youth career at JJB Sports but spent most of his formative years with Manchester United. However, he graduated from the academy at Burnley several years ago.

The 24-year-old was a regular for Burnley but left the Clarets after they suffered relegation from the Premier League in the 2021/22 season. While McNeil was slow off the blocks at Everton, he has gradually established himself as a pivotal figure for the Merseyside outfit throughout 2024.

The English winger has been hot off the blocks in the 2024/25 season, chipping in with four goals and three assists in ten appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, Dwight McNeil’s exploits for Everton have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs in the Premier League, including Brighton & Hove Albion.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Brighton & Hove Albion’s interest in Dwight McNeil is understandable. While the Seagulls bolstered their offensive unit in the summer transfer window by signing Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle United, they want more options in their first-team squad. So, several candidates, including Baris Alper Yilmaz, have emerged on the Premier League club’s radar.

However, McNeil is also a viable target for Brighton, considering his vast experience in the Premier League. The 24-year-old Englishman will not cost a bomb either, with Everton demanding around €30 million to part ways with him next year.

It is unclear if Brighton & Hove Albion are ready to cough up €30 million to sign the English winger from Everton next year. The Seagulls’ task will become easier if the Toffees suffer relegation from the Premier League this season.
