Crystal Palace keen on Bright Osayi-Samuel

Crystal Palace are interested in acquiring the services of Fenerbahce defensive sensation Bright Osayi-Samuel.

According to Takvim via Aspor, Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in the services of Nigerian full-back Bright Osayi-Samuel. The Eagles are planning to reinforce their backline and they are closely monitoring the situation of the Fenerbahce full-back.

Osayi-Samuel came up the ranks at Blackpool. After a short stint with their first team, he made the move to QPR before eventually joining Fenerbahce at the start of 2021. He has been a key player for the Turkish giants over the years but the 26-year-old might not be around for long with his contract running out.

The Nigerian international has featured in 145 matches and he has even contributed towards 21 goals. While he had a decent start to the season under new boss Jose Mourinho, an ankle injury has forced him to stay on the sidelines.

With Osayi-Samuel’s current deal running out at the end of the season, the Turkish club are trying their best to ensure he pens down a new deal. The report suggests that contract renewal talks between the two parties are going as planned.

Osayi-Samuel could leave Fenerbahce

But, that doesn’t guarantee the 26-year-old’s continuity at Fenerbahce. The right-back could still end up leaving the club as he seems to be waiting for an offer from an English club. His girlfriend wants to leave Istanbul and she would love to move to England.

There is interest in his services from a Premier League club. Crystal Palace are the ones who are believed to be interested in signing the Nigerian defender. With Nathaniel Clyne and skipper Joel Ward in the final phase of their career, the Eagles do need to plan for the long run and bring in someone who can help replace them.

Osayi-Samuel is only 26 and he could be a great acquisition for the short as well as the long run. With his contract running out, the Eagles could try to sign him for a cut-price deal in the winter or they could even strike a pre-agreement for a move to Selhurst Park in the summer of 2025 as a free agent. They are closely monitoring his situation and could pounce on the opportunity.
