Fulham are interested in the services of Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo who is open to a move away from Anfield.
According to a report from CaughtOffside, Wataru Endo could be on the move when the transfer window reopens in January. Fulham are one of the clubs keen on signing the Japanese international who is ready to leave Liverpool in search of regular first-team action.
Endo joined the Reds in the summer of 2023 to help Jurgen Klopp deal with the departure of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. The 31-year-old had an impressive debut season at the Merseyside club.
The Japanese veteran midfielder was considered a stop-gap signing and they did enter the market during the summer of a new defensive midfield. Despite all their attempts to sign Martin Zubimendi, the Reds didn’t succeed.
Endo was linked with a move away from the club during the summer but Liverpool decided against sanctioning his departure. While the Japanese star is the only out-and-out defensive midfielder in their squad, he doesn’t seem to be an important part of Arne Slot’s plans.
The Dutch manager has used Ryan Gravenberch in that role and Endo has only been on the pitch for 85 minutes so far in the new campaign. While he still has well over two years left on his deal at Anfield, the former VfB Stuttgart midfielder is keen on parting ways with Liverpool.
Endo’s priority is to join a club where he can get regular first-team action. With him not in Slot’s plans, the Reds are also ready to sanction his departure as long as an interested club can come up with a fee of around €15-20 million.
Fulham are keen on signing Wataru Endo
While there is interest in his services from Ipswich Town and Wolves, Fulham are the ones who seem ready to push hard to sign the Japanese international who will turn 32 later this season. Marco Silva’s team are willing to battle other interested clubs to his signature.
The Cottagers did add Sander Berge to their squad in the summer but they haven’t succeeded in replacing Joao Palhinha and Endo’s arrival could help their cause. He has adjusted well to Premier League football upon his arrival at Liverpool and he can surely add a lot of quality to Fulham’s midfield. But, the asking price could make things complicated.
