Zlatan Ibrahimovic wants AC Milan to sign Victor Lindelof for free next year

AC Milan are keen on signing Victor Lindelof on a Bosman move as Zlatan Ibrahimovic is eager to convince his compatriot to join them over their rivals.

According to Milan Live, Victor Lindelof is a big target for Zlatan Ibrahimovic at AC Milan. The Swedish great wants his compatriot to join the Rossoneri over some of their rivals, as the defender’s time with Manchester United is inching closer to a conclusion.

Manchester United triggered an extension in Victor Lindelof’s contract as it is their practice as a club. The Swedish defender’s deal expires next summer, and he will be able to leave for free, although the Red Devils were hoping he might have fetched a decent price in the market, which has yet to happen.

The Red Devils wanted to sell him before deadline day, and there were a few glances from clubs across different leagues. Turkish outfits were eager, but a deal was far from the price Manchester United wanted for their seven-season veteran.

Lindelof also caught Lazio’s attention late on, and as things stand, he does not have an important place in this Manchester United squad. He played his first game as a half-time substitute at the weekend against Aston Villa. But before that, Erik ten Hag barely used him.

Manchester United are ready for offers in January. Still, again, most interested clubs will either look for an extremely cheap deal or agree on a pre-contract with the defender ahead of a Bosman move in the summer. AC Milan are the latest to show an interest in Lindelof, with Rossoneri director Zlatan Ibrahimovic keen to lure his compatriot to San Siro.

AC Milan in Lindelof chase

AC Milan are somewhat short of defenders after Pierre Kalulu’s summer loan move to Juventus. They have not fared well at the back, and Ibrahimovic would feel the presence of his compatriot Lindelof would ease some of the struggles. Milan could target a January move, but they are leaning more towards a Bosman move next summer, even if it means they have to agree on a pre-contract.

Lindelof will have plenty of offers. The 30-year-old is essentially considered a good defender for his age, as many believe he has many years left in the tank. Hence, Milan are hoping to lure the Manchester United defender via Ibrahimovic and bring him to the San Siro, preferably on a free transfer.
