Tottenham considering Liam Delap swoop

Tottenham are considering a move for Liam Delap in the future, as they aim to bring the English striker for the long-term future.

According to Fichajes, Tottenham are considering a move for Liam Delap, as they view the striker as a big option for the club’s future. A January move might not be on the cards, as Ipswich Town will not sell their star man, although things could change next summer when a deal might be possible.

Rory Delap made his name as one of the creative throw-in specialists in the Premier League, and now his son is keen to build a reputation as a lethal striker. The younger Delap has already made headway in his quest to become a top marksman, having scored four goals in seven games for Ipswich Town this season.

Liam Delap has found his scoring boots of late after a slow start to the campaign. Two goals that earned Ipswich Town a point against Aston Villa caught the eye, while he continued scoring against West Ham United, only for the newly-promoted Premier League group to lose badly from there on.

Delap was highly rated during his development phase at Manchester City, and now he is taking his chance in the top flight with full effect. A big season, irrespective of what transpires in Ipswich, will mean Delap could have a good future ahead elsewhere, as Tottenham are already thinking about making a move for the striker.

His coaching at Manchester City has helped Liam Delap gain good technical knowledge of the English game, which will help him progress into the future. Spurs are in the mix for this very reason, as they eye the Ipswich Town man for the long run. There are increasing links to a new striker, with Kieran McKenna’s side set to demand a reported €40 million to sell him, albeit only depending on their circumstances next summer.

Tottenham looking for a striker

Tottenham are linked with several big names in the market, with Samu Omorodion the latest on their list. Delap must be the new forward they are considering, and it makes sense to keep the long-term future in mind. Jonathan David is another target, but the Canadian forward will have a huge choice in front of him when he becomes a free agent next summer.

As for Delap, he could also have a choice to make ahead of the future, especially if Ipswich manage to stay afloat in the Premier League. In that scenario, he either leaves for a bigger club, where he might not be the first-choice striker or stays put at Ipswich Town for probably another season to improve his game in the Premier League.
