Tottenham run rule over Samu Omorodion

Tottenham scouts watched Samu Omorodion in action against Manchester United, which has sparked rumours of their interest.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are keeping tabs on Samu Omorodion’s progress at FC Porto, as scouts were present to watch the striker in action against Manchester United in midweek. The Olympics 2024 gold medalist scored a brace against Erik ten Hag’s side and could emerge as a big target for Spurs and other top teams in the future.

Samu Omorodion had an interesting summer on and off the field as he got his move away from Atletico Madrid. He might have wanted to stay put and make a name for himself under the formidable Diego Simeone. But the club had other plans as they needed to balance their financial books.

While he joined Porto in a £13 million deal, the Portuguese giants were not his first choice, as he was extremely close to joining Chelsea before the move to Stamford Bridge broke down. There were unconfirmed reports that claimed either it was a medical problem or a contractual disagreement between the two parties that held up the deal.

Either way, Porto found a way to bring down the price to £13 million from the £34 million-plus that Atletico had agreed with Chelsea. Either way, the striker has proved his worth and more than tripled his value since his move, having scored seven goals in six games across all competitions, including a brace against Manchester United in the Europa League in midweek.

Tottenham scouts were reportedly watching the striker in action during that game and might have returned with an impressive dossier on the Olympic 2024 gold medalist. Spurs are interested in a striker, with names like Marcus Thuram mentioned as targets, and now, it appears they might also explore a deal for Omorodion.

Can Tottenham sign Omorodion?

For now, the player is creating magic at Porto and allowing the club to show how big a player they have for that kind of price. In any case, it won’t be long before Omorodion makes a big switch to one of the big teams, and Tottenham might be under consideration.

While Spurs might have made some headway with their scouting trips to watch the player, they will face big competition for the striker in the future. Chelsea are expected to retain an interest, while a host of other big sides could come into the equation, especially if Omorodion continues his impressive form throughout the campaign.
