Tottenham enter Hugo Duro chase

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered the race to secure the services of Valencia attacking sensation Hugo Duro.

According to a report from Fichajes, Hugo Duro’s consistent performances for Valencia have put him on the radar of Tottenham Hotspurs. The Premier League have entered the race for his services and could table an offer for the Spanish forward next summer.

Duro came up the ranks at Getafe before moving across La Liga by joining Valencia in the summer of 2021. While it was an initial loan deal, the move became permanent in the following summer. The Spaniard has only gone from strength to strength over the past few years.

The 24-year-old striker had an impressive 2023/24 campaign, where he scored 13 goals and bagged four assists. He has been in fine form in the new season, having already found the back of the net twice in his seven league outings.

While Hugo Duro does not really have the best of numbers in front of goal, he has made quite a name for himself with his overall gameplay. Apart from his instincts in the box, the Spanish attacker’s ability to press and his intelligent movements make him an exciting player who will get even better with time.

Tottenham are interested in Duro

Duro’s consistent performances as well as his potential have resulted in interest from across Europe. While multiple top clubs want to sign the Valencia attacker, Tottenham have emerged as the leading candidate to prise him away from Spain.

The North London club forked out a club-record fee to sign Dominic Solanke in the summer. While Ange Postecoglou did finally get the striker he was looking for, Spurs won’t stop there. The Australian boss seeks more quality up top, and Hugo Duro has all the abilities that the former Celtic boss is looking for.

The Spaniard can be an ideal fit for the North London club, and they have been keeping a close eye on his performances in La Liga. Spurs are looking to knock on the doors of Valencia next summer. The Spanish outfit do not rule out a potential move. They would be willing to cash in on him as long as they receive a suitable offer. However, Tottenham might face competition from other Premier League clubs for his signature.
