AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus rival Arsenal, Newcastle United in Jonathan David chase

A host of clubs have joined Arsenal and Newcastle United in the pursuit of highly coveted LOSC Lille striker Jonathan David.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal and Newcastle United face plenty of competition for Jonathan David ahead of the summer. Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Juventus are among those rivalling for the 24-year-old Ligue 1 attacker, who will be available on a free transfer next year.

Jonathan David is in high demand

The market is craving a top-class striker who is available and, indeed, a low-cost acquisition. All the clubs across the continent are keen to retain their top forward talents as they know the level of demand for frontmen in this market. But LOSC Lille find themselves in a challenging position.

Lille had Canadian striker Jonathan David to thank for their famous win over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. The 24-year-old netted the only goal via the penalty spot. The attacker finds himself in an opportunistic position in his career, as he has so far refused to sign a new deal with the Ligue 1 club.

David’s current deal expires next summer, meaning he could have a vast choice of clubs willing to sign him in the market. Arsenal are in contact with the Canadian’s camp, with Mikel Arteta’s side representing one of the high-profile suitors for the 24-year-old attacker. There are reports that the Spanish manager could make changes to his frontline, with the Canadian tipped to replace the ineffective Gabriel Jesus.

Newcastle United are also interested in David, as Eddie Howe eyes a new striker to compete with Alexander Isak or even replace the Swede next summer. The Premier League is an attractive destination for any player in Europe. But the 24-year-old attacker does have a host of suitors who could also offer him an essential part in their side.

Serie A trio keen on David

AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Juventus are all keen on David ahead of next summer because of his attractive availability for a free transfer. The striker certainly packs considerable talent, which could undoubtedly improve the Serie A trio in a big way. For instance, Inter Milan could potentially sell Marcus Thuram and the Canadian free arrival would be seen as a brilliant business.

AC Milan, on the other hand, have yet to see convincing performances from summer arrivals Tammy Abraham and Alvaro Morata. Hence, bringing in a prolific forward like Jonathan David would make sense. The same goes for Juventus, who do have Dusan Vlahovic, but Thiago Motta might look at the Canadian as a competitor of sorts for the No.9 role in his system at Turin.
