Arne Slot’s Liverpool are willing to fork out €80 million to acquire the services of Real Madrid midfield mainstay Aurelien Tchouameni.
Liverpool’s search for a new defensive midfielder continues. It was one of their priorities during the summer, and they were in talks with their top target, but things did not go according to plan. They have managed well without signing a new midfielder but their hunt continues.
The Merseyside club are interested in the services of Aurelien Tchouameni and according to a report from Fichajes, Arne Slot’s team are ready to fork out €80 million to sign the Real Madrid star next summer.
Tchouameni made a name for himself at AS Monaco. His consistent performances for the French giants and his huge potential resulted in a big-money move to the Spanish giants in the summer of 2020. The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has been an important first-team player since the start.
While Aurelien Tchouameni has had his moments at Real Madrid, the French international has not been consistent enough. He has not reached the expected levels, and there has been a lot of talk about his future at the Spanish club.
The Frenchman still has well over three years left on his deal, but Los Blancos could consider parting ways with him if they receive a decent offer for his signature. Liverpool are interested in the French sensation and they are considering making a move for him.
Liverpool keen on signing a new defensive midfielder
The Reds wanted to sign Martin Zubimendi during the summer. He was their top priority, and they were confident about getting it done. But, things did not go according to plan for them as the Real Sociedad star turned down the opportunity and remains keen on joining Real Madrid instead of Liverpool.
While Ryan Gravenberch is doing a great job in that role, Liverpool want an out-and-out defensive midfielder to further strengthen their squad and feel Aurelien Tchouameni could be an ideal fit for them. They consider it to be a great opportunity to bring him to Anfield and are willing to table an offer worth €80 million.
The offer will surely make the team in white think twice. With Tchouameni not one of Real Madrid’s indispenable player, the Merseyside club will hope they can strike a deal for his services with Los Blancos.
