Liverpool rival Arsenal, Newcastle United in Jonathan David chase

Liverpool are all set to battle Arsenal and Newcastle United in the race for the services of LOSC Lille striker Jonathan David.

According to a report from Interlive, Liverpool could look to reinforce their attack midway through the season. The Reds are keen on adding more firepower and they are interested in the services of Jonathan David who is also on the wishlist of Arsenal and Newcastle United.

David has only gone from strength to strength since making the move to LOSC Lille in the summer of 2020. The young striker who made a name for himself coming up the ranks at KAA Gent has done wonders for the French club of late.

Last season, the 24-year-old Canadian international was involved in a total of 47 matches. He scored as many as 26 goals and even bagged nine assists. His impressive performances for the Ligue 1 side resulted in a significant amount of interest from across Europe.

Despite being linked with some of the biggest clubs in the world, the former Gent ace ended up staying in France. But, he might not be around for long with his contract running out at the end of the season.

David seems to have no intentions of extending his stay at LOSC Lille. He doesn’t want to pen down a new deal and is keen on making a move to a bigger club. With the possibility of him leaving for free in around 10 months, the French club now seem ready to sell him for a cut-price fee in the winter and three Premier League clubs are looking to make the most out of this situation.

Liverpool pushing hard to sign David

Liverpool do have a lot of options up top but Arne Slot still seems keen on signing an out-and-out striker who can add more goals. They feel David could help their cause and are all set to offer €25 million to acquire his services. They are willing to hand him a five-year deal with wages worth €5 million net per season.

The Reds are ready to rival Arsenal as well as Newcastle to his signature. The Premier League outfits are waiting for the player to make a final call on his future as there is still an outside chance of him signing a new contract.

Arsenal and Newcastle are also in the mix

Mikel Arteta’s team also have some quality attacking options but the Spanish manager is not happy with the output of his strikers. He wanted a new number nine during the recently concluded window. It might not have happened in the summer but the North London club are pushing to make it happen now.

Meanwhile, the Magpies are also looking to buy him in January. They are looking to steal a march on other clubs by moving early. With Alexanders Isak and Callum Wilson struggling with injuries, their interest is quite understandable.
