Manchester United are holding internal talks regarding a potential move for Adrien Rabiot amidst interest from Newcastle United.
According to a report from Caught Offside, Manchester United and Newcastle United are both interested in acquiring the services of Adrien Rabiot. The French midfielder has been without a club since the start of the summer. While clubs from across the globe are keen on signing him, the player has his heart set on a move to the Premier League.
Rabiot made the move to Juventus in the summer of 2019. While he did struggle in the initial years, the French international eventually became one of their mainstays. But, he parted ways with the Old Lady at the start of the summer following the expiry of his contract.
The 29-year-old free agent has been on the lookout for an ideal destination for a while now. Clubs from the Middle East and Turkey have presented their offers. However, Adrien Rabiot has no intentions of leaving Europe. He wants to play at the highest level and is keen on a move to England.
Since he is available for free, Rabiot is looking to secure a massive contract, although clubs have not been willing to meet his demands so far. However, there is interest in his services from Manchester United as well as Newcastle United.
Premier League duo keen on signing free agent Rabiot
The Magpies have been linked with the French international as they look to add more quality to their squad. Eddie Howe would love to have someone with his experience, but they do not have European football this time around. As a result, they will have to do a lot of hard work to bring Adrien Rabiot to the Tyneside club.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are considering making a move for the 29-year-old. The Red Devils have gone after young players under their new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. But they are holding internal discussions about going against their current structure and strategy to bring Rabiot to the club.
While he will soon turn 30, they are looking to make an exception for the free agent as he could help strengthen their midfield, with Casemiro struggling for form. The Red Devils have not adequately replaced Scott McTominay and Sofyan Amrabat. As a result, Rabiot could be an exceptional signing for them. But, it will be a huge blow to their wage bill as the French international is looking for a massive deal.
