Barcelona make offer to sign Stefan Bajcetic

Barcelona have made a loan bid for Stefan Bajcetic without a buy option as they are looking for a solution following Marc Bernal’s injury.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona have made a late bid for Stafan Bajcetic to take him on loan for the current campaign. The 19-year-old Liverpool prodigy will have to sit down with the Merseyside club to decide on his future, as the Catalans make a rather generous offer in the way of a loan fee.

Barcelona makes Stefan Bajcetic bid

Barcelona are in a bit of a soup following their midweek La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano. Exciting teenage midfielder Marc Bernal suffered a serious injury during the clash that could potentially see him miss the remainder of the campaign or more.

With thelikes of Frenkie De Jong injured for an unknown period and Ilkay Gundogan already out of the club following his return to Manchester City, Barcelona have severe issues in midfield. There are also concerns with Pedri with an injury suiffered during the same game, while Gavi is also out at least until the end of the year.

Bernal had occupied an important role under new boss Hansi Flick, and his absence needs replacing in this setup. With two days left in the transfer market, Barcelona have decided to make a loan bid for 19-year-old Liverpool prodigy Stefan Bajcetic, who they are open to sending out on loan

The deal comes with a generous €4 million loan fee and does not contain any buy option. It’s clear that the Catalans are only keen on a temporary replacement for Bernal and are not willing to commit to signing Bajcetic for the long-term future.

Bajcetic and Liverpool to make a decision

Bajcetic had multiple loan offers, and he did seem close to joining RB Salzburg, where former Jurgen Klopp assistant Pep Ljinders has taken over. The idea of having the midfielder train under a coach who knows him rather closely would have helped the midfielder gain plenty of experience.

However, the prospect of playing for Barcelona on a regular basis would also entice Bajcetic, who could now have the decision to make together with Liverpool. There are some tempting prospects ahead of the 19-year-old Liverpool prodigy, as he might choose to join the Catalans and replace Bernal, albeit for only one season.
