According to a report from Graeme Bailey on HITC, Everton are now closing in on the capture of 26-year-old Lyon midfielder Orel Mangala. Meanwhile, reputed Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has revealed that the Belgian international has already agreed personal terms with them.

In addition, German journalist Florian Plettenberg has claimed that a verbal agreement is in place between the two clubs, and Everton will sign Mangala on loan with an option to buy him for €40 million next year.

The Lyon midfielder is highly rated across Europe, and he could be a key player for Everton. The Toffees needed a combative presence in the middle of the park after the departure of Amadou Onana, and Mangala should prove to be a solid acquisition for them. The midfielder is at the peak of his powers right now, and he will look to make an instant impact in the Premier League.

Orel Mangala has the physicality and technical attributes to thrive in English football, and he will look to establish himself as a key player for the club. Meanwhile, the midfielder is expected to finalise his medical Everton later today. Everton will need to improve their squad further before the summer transfer window closes.

The Merseyside outfit have been fighting the relegation battle for the last two seasons, and they will look to bounce back strongly. Signing the right players will help them do well this season and finish closer to the top half. A club of their stature is expected to do a lot better.

Everton have had a miserable start

Sean Dyche and Everton are already under tremendous pressure after losing their first two league games of the season. It will be interesting to see if players like Orel Mangala can transform them in the middle of the park and help them bounce back strongly in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old midfielder will look to prove his quality in the Premier League with Everton. If he manages to impress with them, he will have opportunities to join the elite clubs in the near future.
