Liverpool seal final details to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili

Giorgi Mamardashvili is all set to be Liverpool’s first signing of the summer as the Reds have struck a deal with Valencia.

Liverpool are on the verge of completing their first signing of the summer. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds have managed to reach a full agreement with Valencia for the services of Giorgi Mamardashvili. The Georgian international will continue at the Spanish club for another season before making the move to Anfield next summer.

Mamardashvili hasn’t looked back since he made the move to Valencia in the summer of 2021. At 23, he is already a mainstay in the team and was exceptional last season. In his 37 league outings, he kept a total of 13 clean sheets. He carried that form into Euro 2024 and delivered some sensational performances at the continental tournament.

His work didn’t go unnoticed and multiple top clubs have been monitoring him since. But, Liverpool are the ones who have been making moves to sign him. While the Reds already have Alisson Becker in their squad, they are looking to add more quality to their squad for the long run.

The Brazilian international will continue to be their number one in the 2024/25 season but they want someone who is ready to take over from Becker when the time comes. They feel Mamardashvili could do a great job and have been looking to strike a deal with Valencia.

Mamardashvili to undergo medical as Liverpool player

The initial idea was to sign him and send him out on loan to a Premier League club. Valencia and Liverpool were unable to reach a common ground, as a result, the English giants instead offered to let him stay on loan at the Spanish club.

After weeks of negotiation, Liverpool have managed to finalise all terms for the 23-year-old goalkeeper’s signing. Mamardashvili is expected to undergo his medical at his new club today as both clubs have agreed on a €35 million package along with a 10% sell-on clause for the Spanish outfit.

The Reds will pay €30 million as a fixed fee along with another €5 million as easy add-ons. The player will continue at Valencia before moving to Anfield next July with him all set to pen down a six-year deal.
