Wolverhampton Wanderers have made a loan proposal with an option to buy Aaron Ramsdale as talks with Arsenal continue.
According to the Daily Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers are engaged in talks with Arsenal for Aaron Ramsdale. The Black Country outfit have made a loan offer with an option to buy for the 26-year-old wantaway Arsenal player, who is desperate to leave, with the Gunners unlikely to accept this offer.
Wolves make Ramsdale approach
Wolves are considering making late changes to their goalkeeping department, with a potential exit for first-choice stopper Jose Sa not ruled out yet. Should the Portuguese international attract considerable offers, they might sell him and have set sights on Aaron Ramsdale as his potential replacement.
The Black Country outfit have now made a loan offer with a buy option for Arsenal to consider, with ongoing talks between the two sides to find a solution. Wolves are under strict financial restrictions that will not allow them to spend more than £20 million on new signings for the remainder of the window.
Ramsdale is pushing to leave Arsenal after losing his place to David Raya at the start of last season. Mikel Arteta is happy to have the two stoppers in his setup but could concede the system by allowing the 26-year-old wantaway Arsenal player a departure for the right price. The Gunners paid £24 million for the former Sheffield United star, with the deal rising to £30 million with bonuses.
Hence, the Gunners will likely want more than £30 million to sell Ramsdale and would ideally prefer a permanent transfer. They had thought about loaning him, and that remains an option. Wolves also pondered using Arsenal target Dan Bentley in a deal for the 26-year-old wantaway keeper. But the Gunners are unlikely to show a concrete interest in such a proposal.
Ramsdale situation explained
Aaron Ramsdale is desperate to play regularly this season after enduring a tough time on the Arsenal bench. He played four games at the start of the previous campaign, and alongside some brief appearances in cup competitions, he only managed 11 games across all competitions. He fears for his place in the England setup should his current plight continue. Hence, he’s keen on a new challenge.
Arsenal rejected a loan approach from Ajax, and the deal was unsuitable for the Gunners. Wolves could be a good option, but any deal will depend on how talks between the two clubs progress, with the Gunners likely to insist on a permanent transfer at their price.
