Manchester United inch closer to sign Manuel Ugarte

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on the signature of Paris Saint-Germain defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

According to a report from Manchester World, Manchester United are looking to complete the signing of Manuel Ugarte before the end of the transfer deadline. The Reds Devils have been working on a deal to sign the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder for some time now, and they have made progress in their pursuit.

Ugarte made a name for himself at Sporting CP before joining the French giants last summer. While he was a regular feature in their XI towards the first half of the season, he slowly fell down the pecking order under Luis Enrique and was not involved in their crucial UEFA Champions League fixture.

While the 23-year-old still has four years left on his deal at PSG, his future has been the talk of the town since the start of the window. There has been significant interest in his services, but the French giants’ asking price is making things difficult.

Manchester United still pushing for Manuel Ugarte

Manchester United are one of the clubs that have been linked with the Uruguayan international for some time now. They have already bolstered their defence and added more firepower to their attack. Erik ten Hag’s team is now focused on ensuring they add another midfielder to the mix.

The Red Devils were initially looking at the likes of Sofyan Amrabat, Martin Zubimendi, and Youssouf Fofana. But they have decided to focus on Ugarte instead as a deal for the PSG star looks more likely to go through. The French giants look all set to sanction his departure after he was left out of their squad for their Ligue 1 opener against Le Havre.

They have already signed a top replacement in Joao Neves, who has done wonders for both club and country despite being a teenager. Manchester United had already agreed personal terms with the defensive midfielder. But PSG’s demands were proving too difficult for them and the move stalled.

However, the Red Devils have reignited their pursuit, and they have been pushing hard to bring Ugarte to Old Trafford. People at Manchester United feel his signing can be secured, and they have recently made progress in talks with PSG for the 23-year-old, who could eventually replace Casemiro in United’s squad.
