Aaron Ramsdale is keen on leaving Arsenal in this window despite the lack of significant market opportunities.
According to Football Insider, Aaron Ramsdale has grown tired of sitting on the Arsenal bench and wants a quick move out of the club. With the window shutting down in under two weeks, there aren’t enough ample opportunities at present for the 26-year-old, although there’s interest from a few sides.
Aaron Ramsdale seeking the Gunner’s exit
Aaron Ramsdale started last season between the sticks for Arsenal, and no one at that point envisaged what would happen to him in a few weeks’ time. Mikel Arteta convinced his board to seize a market opportunity with David Raya, and the Gunners agreed to a loan-to-buy deal with Brentford.
Arteta wasted no time integrating Raya and making him his No.1 choice right after the first international break last summer. After featuring in the first four games of that campaign, Ramsdale only played the two clashes against Brentford due to Raya’s ineligibility while making a total of 11 appearances throughout the season in all competitions.
Ramsdale feared for his England place but eventually went with Gareth Southgate’s side due to Nick Pope’s injury and ended up playing zero minutes on their road to the Final. As he arrived late back into the Arsenal camp for pre-season following his presence for England, Arteta did not give the 26-year-old even a single minute and was again on the bench for the opening game against Wolves.
Arsenal recently rebuffed an approach from Ajax, as the loan offer did not meet their requirements. Ramsdale is keen to leave the club and remains a frustrated figure on the bench. He seeks regular time and could push the door over an exit. He also wants to keep playing for the national side, but should he remain here and continue on the bench, soon someone else might take over his national team spot.
Lack of significant market opportunities
Wolves remain keen and could propose adding Dan Bentley to a deal to sign Ramsdale, as they are also looking to sell Jose Sa. Either way, only some lowly sides, including Southampton, have been angling for a move for Ramsdale. The Gunners could also consider a loan exit if they can sign a replacement in time.
Ramsdale had many suitors before the previous season ended, but so far, none have come forward with an approach. That may be owing to Arsenal’s asking price, which is understood to be more than £30 million, as they do not want to incur a loss on the transaction. As things stand, any move for the 26-year-old Arsenal star will depend on Arteta’s decision and the club’s ability to sign a timely replacement.
