Thomas Partey not leaving Arsenal as things stand

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been linked with a move away from the North London club this summer.

Thomas Partey struggled with persistent injury problems last season, and the rumour mill has been abuzz with widespread speculation that he could be replaced by Arsenal this summer.

According to a report by Caught Offside, the Arsenal midfield mainstay, who cost the Gunners €50 million, is not leaving the club as things stand.

Fabrizio Romano said, “As things stand, Thomas Partey is not looking close to leaving Arsenal. There are no substantial updates on the midfielder despite some rumours earlier in the window. It’s been a quiet summer, I’m not hearing anything about him now. Let’s see if it changes but so far, no.”

There is no doubt that Partey is a quality player when he is fit and available. He could be a very useful option for the next season if he stays injury-free. Arsenal will be hoping to challenge for the league title next season, and they need to hold onto their best players. The experienced midfielder could prove to be very handy for them.

Meanwhile, the Ghanaian midfielder will look to get back to his best as well. He will add physicality, technical attributes and defensive quality to the Arsenal midfield alongside Declan Rice if he can stay fit.

Arsenal eyeing quality midfielders

Meanwhile, Arsenal are looking to bring in a quality central midfielder this summer. They have been linked with players like Mikel Merino and Martin Zubimendi. Although a move for Zubimendi has collapsed, Merino could be signed in the next few days. It will be interesting to see if the arrival of the Spanish international midfielder pushes Partey down the pecking order.

He will not want to sit on the bench at Arsenal next season, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. A player of his quality, who is at the peak of his powers, needs to play regularly. He might seek assurances before opting to stay at Arsenal for the upcoming season.

Arsenal will have to plug the gaps in their squad this summer if they want to win the title. Manchester City have a formidable squad and the Gunners have already missed out on the league title to them twice in a row. They will want to go all the way this time around.
