Manchester United expected to seal double deal for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui

Manchester United are optimistic about completing the signing of Bayern Munich defensive duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano via GIVEMESPORT, Manchester United are closing in on the services of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. The Red Devils are yet to strike a deal with Bayern Munich. But they are confident about getting the deal over the line.

Manchester United to revamp their defence

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United struggled last season and could only manage to finish eight on the points table. Injuries at the back were their biggest problem last time out and to address those issues, they are looking to undergo a revamp in defence.

Manchester United have already added teenage sensation Leny Yoro to their squad following the departure of Raphael Varane. But, there is still a lot of work to be done, and they are working on deals to sign Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

The Bayern Munich defensive duo came up the ranks at Ajax, and they have played under ten Hag in the past. The Dutch manager feels they could solve quite a few of Manchester United’s defensive issues. Things might not have worked out for De Ligt since leaving the Dutch club. But he is only 24 and surely has the potential to establish himself as a mainstay at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils also want to strengthen the right-back slot; they want to bring in someone who can compete with Diogo Dalot for a place in the starting XI, and Mazraoui is considered to be an ideal fit. Since the Moroccan international can play on both flanks, his arrival will add much-needed depth to the full-back department.

Manchester United confident about signing Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui

Manchester United are confident about signing the duo who are not considered an important part of Bayern Munich’s plans moving ahead. De Ligt had already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils back in June. But, it was already clear that any potential transfer would take time as Ten Hag’s team first needed to sanction a few departures.

While Manchester United have the green light from the player, they remain in talks with the German giants as well as his agent Rafaela Pimenta, who also represents the Moroccan international. Both Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are expected to join the Red Devils and things seem to be moving in the right direction.

Bayern Munich are looking for a guaranteed €50 million from De Ligt’s sale, and they want around €20 million for Mazraoui. While the German club wants around €70 million for the duo, the Red Devils are looking to lower their demands. Talks between the two parties continue but the Premier League outfit are confident as the former Juventus star only wants Manchester United.
