Manchester United considering Sander Berge as Manuel Ugarte alternative

Manchester United are reportedly mulling over signing 26-year-old Burnley midfielder Sander Berge this summer.

According to the Duncan Castles on the Transfers Podcast, Manchester United are lining up a move for 26-year-old Burnley midfielder Sander Berge if they fail to sign Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.

Manchester United are looking to improve their midfield unit, and they are keen on signing a quality defensive midfielder, with Ugarte a top target. The Uruguayan international would be a superb addition for them, and it will be interesting to see if they can convince PSG to sell the player for a reasonable price.

The Uruguayan international has not been a key player for PSG, and he will want to secure a move away from the French club as well. A move to Manchester United will be quite exciting for him, and he would get to compete at a high level for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Manchester United keen on Sander Berge

Manchester United have already planned for contingencies, and they are ready to move for Sander Berge if the plan to sign Ugarte does not work out. Other options include Joey Veerman and Adrien Rabiot.

Berge has played in the Premier League with Sheffield United in the past, before they were relegated from the Premier League. He could be a useful acquisition for the Red Devils. He has shown his quality with the Clarets, and there is no doubt that he is good enough to play for a bigger club.

The opportunity to play for Manchester United will be quite attractive, and he will be tempted to join them if the opportunity presents itself. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can secure an agreement with Burnley.

Sander Berge is likely to cost a lot less compared to the South American midfielder as well. The 26-year-old knows the Premier League well, and he should be able to settle in quickly and make an instant impact at Old Trafford if the transfer goes through.

Manchester United must improve their squad adequately during the summer transfer window if they are serious about competing for with Arsenal and Manchester City. Signing a quality defensive midfielder would be ideal. Casemiro has not been at his best over the last 12 months, and Manchester United need an upgrade.
