Crystal Palace have made a €20 million bid to sign Corinthians winger Wesley Gassova, with West Ham also keen on the attacker.
According to Caught Offside, Crystal Palace are pushing with their pursuit of winger Wesley Gassova and have made a €20 million offer plus bonuses for the Corinthians star. Oliver Glasner rates the player highly as the report states that the Eagles view the West Ham-linked star as a replacement for Michael Olise.
Crystal Palace in Wesley Gassova bid
Crystal Palace are moving ahead with their transfer market plans after losing star winger Michael Olise, who completed his move to Bayern Munich. Losing the Frenchman might have come as a bitter blow to Oliver Glasner, although the Eagles have already made moves to replace him and beyond.
Crystal Palace are set to sign Marseille winger Ismaila Sarr, who will be Olise’s natural replacement. They are not stopping short at the Senegal international and are targeting another winger in Wesley Gassova, who the report claims could be the Olise replacement they seek in the market.
Either way, Crystal Palace have lodged a €20 million plus add-on bid for the Corinthians winger, although the Brazilian outfit want around €30 million for the attacker. Palace are unlikely to pay that much for a player who is largely unproven. Glasner rates him relatively highly, which could be the reason why the club is willing to invest significantly in signing him.
Whether they can get the deal over the line remains the question, although they will face competition for his signature, with a host of clubs interested in the €30 million-rated winger. West Ham are also keen, and they were preparing a similar offer around early June. They have continued to monitor the attacker’s situation and might make their own bid to test Corinthians’ resolve.
Wesley Gassova keen on the Crystal Palace switch
As per another report, this time on UOL, Wesley is keen on the switch to Palace, which might indicate the Londoners have already presented with an offer on personal terms. Either way, the Eagles are in a strong position with the winger and could be deemed favourites.
Much will depend on Corinthians’ response, as they have not rejected Palace’s offer, meaning there could be legs in this deal. Wesley is not ideally the Olise replacement on paper. But he offers a lot of attacking potential compared to how Glasner likes to play.
