Everton are reportedly closing in on completing the capture of 24-year-old Napoli attacking midfielder Jesper Lindstrom.
According to a report from Italian outlet Calcio Napoli 24, 24-year-old Napoli attacker Jesper Lindstrom is now set to join Premier League club Everton on loan with the option to buy.
The attacking midfielder had a disappointing season with the Italian club last season and he picked up just one assist in 32 appearances in all competitions. He was not a regular starter for them either. The Denmark international needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and a move to Everton would be ideal for him.
The Premier League side set their sights on Lindstrom amid their need for more creativity and cutting edge in the final third, and the 24-year-old should prove to be a useful acquisition. He is versatile enough to operate as a central attacking midfielder as well as a winger. It will be interesting to see if he can make his mark in the Premier League and establish himself as a key player for Everton.
The Toffees have been fighting the relegation battle in recent seasons, and a club of their stature is expected to do better. It will be interesting to see if they can push for a mid-table finish or a top-half finish in the upcoming campaign. Everton will have to improve their squad in order to do well.
Lindstrom could improve Everton
The 24-year-old Denmark international has shown his quality in the Bundesliga in the past, and there is no doubt that he has the technical attributes to succeed in the Premier League. He will need to regain his form and confidence in the coming months. Regular football in England could do wonders for the player.
If Everton manage to get the best out of him and sign him for a reasonable price next summer, the deal can look like a wise investment. Everton have looked toothless going forward in the recently concluded campaign and they will need to improve in that department.
Signing an attacking midfielder would be a step in the right direction. Napoli will hope that he can impress in the Premier League and secure a permanent transfer away from the Serie A club next summer.
