Tottenham, Newcastle United vying for Marcus Vinnicius

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are both interested in signing Palmeiras defensive sensation Marcus Vinnicius.

According to a report from PL Brasil, Marcus Vinnicius’ impressive rise at Palmeiras has attracted a significant amount of interest from across Europe. Tottenham and Newcastle United are two top clubs from the Premier League that are keen on his signature and have been keeping a close eye on the youngster.

Vinnicius is a part of the Palmeiras youth setup that has produced quite a few top talents over the years. The 17-year-old full-back is considered to be one of the best young defensive prospects to have come up the ranks at the Brazilian club.

He is a regular feature for their under-17 team and has attracted a significant amount of interest on the back of his impressive performances. The young defender recently won the Ecuador Youth Cup and his work at the tournament surely didn’t go unnoticed.

Tottenham and Newcastle monitoring Vinnicius

Tottenham and Newcastle seem to be quite serious about their interest in the teenage sensational. Both clubs are focused on making the necessary changes to help them take the next step in the 2024/25 season but they are also looking to ensure they build a team for the long run.

Spurs have already added Lucas Bergavall and Archie Gray to their squad and are now interested in the young Brazilian full-back who surely has a lot of potential. He possesses a strong physical presence, is technically sound, has impressive speed, and excels in aerial duels. In simple terms, a complete modern full-back.

Apart from Tottenham, the Magpies have also been focusing on signing young stars and they feel Vinnicius could be a great acquisition in the long run. But, the North London club are the ones currently leading the race.

Vinnicius unlikely to leave Palmeiras anytime soon

While both Premier League outfits have been closely monitoring the youngster, they might not be able to sign him anytime soon. The player is quite happy in Brazil and is all set to pen down his first professional contract with Palmeiras which will be valid until 2026.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian club are already in talks with the player’s camp regarding an option to extend it until 2029 along with a massive £85 million release clause as they intend to keep him at the clubs for a few more years.
