AS Monaco will demand at least €40 million from Tottenham to sell Brazilian right-back Vanderson, who is viewed as a replacement for Emerson Royal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham may have to shell out at least €40 million to sign Vanderson in the summer. The 22-year-old Brazilian international is viewed as a top replacement option in case Emerson Royal departs, with AS Monaco not willing to sell the right-back on the cheap in this window.
AS Monaco want €40 million to sell Vanderson
Tottenham are in the market for a right-back, although that move is contingent on the sale of Emerson Royal. The Brazilian has not performed as Ange Postecoglou would have wanted, although the Brazilian was still used in multiple defensive positions during a period of defensive crisis.
However, going forward, Postecoglou will not count on Emerson, and the club will be ready to sell him this summer. He is closing in on a move to AC Milan, and the deal could be done swiftly as the defender is not part of the Brazilian squad for Copa America this time around.
Tottenham have considered Vanderson as the ideal replacement for Emerson should the current defender depart the club this summer. The 22-year-old Brazilian international over at AS Monaco has not had the best of campaigns, with some injuries curtailing his appearances to only 20 in the league.
However, AS Monaco are not keen on letting the 22-year-old Brazilian international, who has a contract until 2028, leave on the cheap and wants at least €40 million to sell him. If that is a price that Tottenham are ready to pay remains to be seen. But such has been the Ligue 1 side’s experience of selling high-performers that they will not cave in to demands and have the power in negotiations.
Where will the Brazilian fit in at Spurs?
Vanderson is a high-quality right-back option for the Spurs, although if he comes in, the 22-year-old Brazilian international will not be an automatic starter. Postecoglou will persist with Pedro Porro when the new campaign begins, and the AS Monaco man will be the deputy to the Spaniard.
Whether a competitive role is acceptable for Vanderson remains to be seen, as there might be other clubs in the mix ready to offer him the undisputed first-choice role in the coming window. However, joining a top team like Tottenham might also mean a tough decision for the right-back in the summer, and should the move materialise, it would be a big investment for the north Londoners.
