Arsenal hoping to hold on to Chido-Obi Martin amid Bayern Munich interest

Arsenal hopes to hold on to academy star Chido-Obi Martin as they are willing to offer a new contract amid Bayern Munich’s interest.

According to The Evening Standard, Arsenal are keen to hold on to attacking prodigy Chido-Obi Martin ahead of the summer as they await a decision from the teenage striker. The Danish youth star has produced some scintillating performances for the U-18 level, and now he reportedly has an offer in place from Bayern Munich.

Arsenal want to keep Chido-Obi Martin

Arsenal has come in a precarious position about one of their star academy stars as the attacking prodigy has a big dilemma about staying or leaving. The Gunners are thoroughly impressed with the player’s performances for the u-16s and U-18s this season, as he even scored 10 goals in a game against Liverpool for the former side.

He has since been promoted to the U-18s side and has been a shining light for the side, but now his future is hanging in the balance. Arsenal has been fending off interest from Real Madrid in the past months, while others like Borussia Dortmund and now Bayern Munich are keen.

The latter are excessively pushing to bring the attacking prodigy to Germany, as they might have offered him a lucrative deal on the table for the Danish youngster to consider. Arsenal have also offered him. Scholarship deal, which would turn into a professional deal once he turns 17.

He’s not obliged by Brexit rules for being Danish, meaning he could still leave Arsenal for Bayern should he choose to leave his current surroundings. The Gunners are hoping to persuade the teenager strike sensation to stay and pursue a career towards Mikel Arteta’s first team plans.

Will Chido-Obi Martin stay at Arsenal?

The Bayern Munich links refuse to go away for now, as credible sources are pointing towards an imminent move to the German giants. The major problem is with Arsenal and their treatment of academy players since Arteta took over.

Incidentally, Arteta has yet to promote a single academy player, barring a one-off debut for some of their youngsters coming through the ranks. The statistics do not paint a good picture for any of those youth stars dreaming of making the grade to the first team, and that might be the case with Chido-Obi Martin, which leaves his future hanging in the balance.
