West Ham United will have to fork out £40 million to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers skipper Max Kilman in the summer.
According to a report from Football Insider, West Ham United had one of the worst defensive records last season and they are looking to make major changes at the back in the summer. Wolves skipper Max Kilman is their top target as they look to reinforce their defence.
Kilman joined the Premier League outfit from Marlow on a free transfer in 2018. He has only gone from strength to strength since and already has 150 appearances for their first team. He has established himself as one of the mainstays in the team and was handed over the captain’s armband following the departure of Ruben Neves in 2023.
He featured in every league game for Wolves last season. While the team didn’t go that great, he did put in consistent performances in the heart of the defence which haven’t gone unnoticed yet. While he still has four years left on his deal at the club, a move elsewhere can’t be ruled out given the interest in him.
Lopetegui wants Kilman at West Ham
West Ham United are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks. Julen Lopetegui is all set to be their new manager and he has already started working on potential transfers as he looks to gear up for his first season at the club. The Spanish manager is a huge admirer of Kilman and wants him in his ranks at the London club.
Lopetegui managed him during his stint at Wolves and feels he could be a great fit to reinforce the Hammers’ backline. While they want to sign multiple defenders, the 27-year-old could be their marquee signing for next summer. But, any potential deal will not be easy given his high price tag.
