Tottenham Hotspur are interested in acquiring the services of Middlesbrough defensive sensation Rav van den Berg.
According to a report from TBR, Tottenham want to reinforce their defence ahead of next season and have their eyes set on Rav van den Berg. The teenager defensive star has had an exceptional season in the English top flight and Spurs are looking to bring him to the Premier League.
Van de Berg’s impressive rise and consistent performance for PEC Zwolle’s first team resulted in a lot of interest last summer. The 19-year-old ended up joining Middlesbrough and has only gone from strength to strength since.
The Dutch youth international has featured in a total of 39 matches for the English club. He has been a rock at the back. His consistent performances haven’t gone unnoticed and clubs monitoring him ahead of a potential move when the transfer window opens.
While his contract with Middlesbrough runs until the summer of 2027 and the club do not want to negotiate his departure, they might not be able to keep hold on him given the amount of interest in him. Just like other Championship clubs, Boro are unlikely to reject a sizeable offer for their teenage sensation.
Tottenham want to sign Rav van den Berg
Tottenham are one of the clubs keen on his signature. The North London club have been doing their background checks on the player as they look to sign him in the summer. Spurs might have added Micky Van de Ven and Radu Dragusin to their squad over the last two windows but they are still looking for more depth in defence.
They want to build a young core of defenders and Van den Berg could be a great signing for them. His ability to feature as a centre-back as well as a right-back could be a huge boost for Ange Postecoglou.
The North London club already looked towards the Championship in the past to reinforce their squad having signed Ashley Phillips from Blackburn Rovers and Djed Spence from Middlesbrough. They are once again set to knock on Borro’s door for the teenager’s signature.
