Everton reportedly want £60 million to sanction the departure of their star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer.
According to a report from Football Insider, Everton will allow Dominic Calvert-Lewin to leave the club ahead of next season if an interested club meets their asking price of £60 million. The Merseyside club are not in the best of financial situation, and they look all set to sanction a few departures in the summer.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s time at Everton
Calvert-Lewin has been a part of the Everton squad since joining them from his childhood club Sheffield United back in 2016. Over the years, he has featured in 247 matches and has contributed towards 86 goals (68 goals, 18 assists).
The 27-year-old striker has been an integral part of their first-team setup over the years. The Everton striker had an exceptional 2020/21 season. But things have not been that great for him in recent years. He has struggled with injuries and has not been able to get back to his best.
In the ongoing season, he has been involved in 38 games across competitions and has contributed towards 11 goals (8 goals, 3 assists). Things have improved a touch over the last 12 months and given the fact that he is only 27, there is time for him to make a comeback.

A turnaround might not happen at Everton as the club are considering sanctioning his departure. With Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract running out in the summer of 2025, they are looking to cash in on him.
The Toffees have already been handed two separate points deductions this season following the breach of Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules. In order to balance their books and improve their financial situation, they will look to sell a few of their important players and Calvert-Lewin could be one of them.
Their director of football Kevin Thelwell has already publicly admitted that the club needs to sell a few of their senior players to avoid another financial crisis. While they are ready to allow the 27-year-old to leave the club, they will only do that if an interested club is willing to meet their asking price of £60 million.
Arsenal were one of the clubs linked with the former Sheffield striker in recent years. But they seem to have taken a back seat in their pursuit. As a result, it will be interesting to see which club ends up making a move for his services.
