Fabrizio Romano rubbishes Liverpool links with Pedri

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has dismissed any possibility of Barcelona mainstay Pedri joining Liverpool in the summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano via Give Me Sport, Pedri will not be joining Liverpool despite recent links. The Spanish international is fully committed to Barcelona and has no intentions of parting ways with the club.

Pedri’s impressive rise at UD Las Palmas caught the attention of Barcelona, and they ended up signing him in the summer of 2019. The Blaugrana forked out €5 million upfront to sign the midfield sensation. Las Palmas have already received another €10 million, and the final fee could rise as high as €35 million.

Since making the move to the Spanish giants, Pedri has gone from strength to strength. He has established himself as a mainstay in the team and has also been a regular feature in the Spanish national team. The 21-year-old midfielder already has 139 appearances for Barcelona and has even contributed towards 31 goals (18 goals, 13 assists).

While the youngster still has over two years left on his current deal, his future has been the talk of the town of late. Barcelona do not have the best financial situation. They have not been able to restore economic stability which means they will look to offload a few of their stars in the summer.

Liverpool’s interest in Pedri

Pedri is someone who could be on the move as per recent reports, and he has been linked with a move to Liverpool. The Reds are all set to enter a new era under the leadership of Arne Slot, who is all set to take over from Jurgen Klopp as their new manager.

The Reds underwent a midfield overhaul last summer, and it has done wonders for them. But, they still feel the need to add another world-class midfielder to the mix, and someone of the quality of Pedri could do wonders for them.

Fabrizio Romano rules out move

While reports suggest Pedri could leave Barcelona and that Liverpool are eyeing a potential move, Romano has ruled out the possibility of the 21-year-old leaving the Spanish giants. The transfer expert believes there is nothing at all between the two parties.

Barcelona have no intentions of parting ways with the Spanish international. They consider him to be a very important part of their future plans and are all set to hold contract renewal talks with him in the near future. Despite his recent injury struggles, they are looking to extend his contract until 2028 and secure the future of their star.
