Tottenham establish preliminary contact for Alessandro Buongiorno

Tottenham Hotspur have made initial contacts to sign the 24-year-old Torino centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno in the summer.

According to a report by Calciomercato, Torino’s Alessandro Buongiorno is expected to be on the move in the upcoming summer transfer window given the amount of interest in his services. Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks and they have already made the first move in their pursuit.

Tottenham are pushing for Buongiorno’s signatures

Spurs have had a great first season under the leadership of Ange Postecoglou. But, they have identified multiple areas that need reinforcement ahead of next season. Despite having signed two quality centre-backs since arriving at the club, the Australian boss is still keen on adding another defender to the mix in the summer.

He feels they need another top-quality centre-back to ensure they have enough depth to compete with the best clubs in the division. Alessandro Buongiorno is one of the names on the radar of the North London club and they could make a move for him in the summer.

Tottenham recently established contacts with the Italian club to know about the cost of the operation. They wanted more information to understand what needs to be done to bring the 24-year-old to London.

The price tag & interest from elsewhere

According to the report, Torino’s asking price is still the same as it was back in January, they are looking for around €35 million. Given the kind of potential the Italian international has, Spurs can surely fork out that kind of fee to reinforce their defence.

The Torino academy graduate has been a part of their first team since the summer of 2028 and has racked up over 100 appearances for their senior team. His impressive performances in the heart of the defence have also attracted a lot of interest from rival clubs.

Napoli who failed to sign the 24-year-old back in the winter despite putting forward a player-plus €25 million offer remains interested in him. AC Milan are also keen on having the Italian sensation in their ranks. But, with Tottenham in the mix, the Italian clubs might not be able to compete financially.
