Liverpool have approached Arne Slot as their preferred choice to replace Jurgen Klopp, as the managerial search nears its conclusion.
According to The Athletic, Arne Slot could have become Liverpool’s preferred choice to replace Jurgen Klopp in the summer. A long, drawn-out managerial search might be nearing its conclusion as the Reds have approached the 45-year-old 2022/23 Eredivisie-winning manager from Feyenoord.
Liverpool close in on Arne Slot?
Liverpool are now closing in on Arne Slot to appoint the 45-year-old 2022/23 title-winning manager as the replacement for Jurgen Klopp in the summer. The Feyenoord boss is reportedly eager to make the jump despite rejecting the advances of Tottenham last summer before Spurs appointed Ange Postecoglou.
For months since Jurgen Klopp made his intention to leave the club public in an announcement, Liverpool have seen numerous links to some highly-rated names. Xabi Alonso was the early favourite but chose to stay put at Bayer Leverkusen. Meanwhile, they have recently moved away from the pursuit of Ruben Amorim.
Paulo Fonseca emerged as a target lately, but Liverpool were only considering the Italian as an option to replace Klopp. Now, Arne Slot has become a target for Liverpool, with the club already making their approach for the 45-year-old.
Slot only signed a new deal with Feyenoord last summer amid Tottenham’s interest on the back of a title-winning campaign in the Eredivisie. Now, he might be inclined to leave the Dutch giants for a far more significant challenge with the Premier League title contenders.
Big Arne Slot update
As per David Ornstein, Liverpool are now negotiating with Feyenoord regarding Slot and have seemingly made up their mind about the 45-year-old Dutchman. They are also in contact with Slot and will hope to agree on personal terms before finalising the details with his club.
Liverpool are utterly impressed by Slot’s attacking brand of football as well as his ability to develop young players. He seems like their choice now to replace Klopp, as the fans will hope the Dutchman continues the German’s good work at the club and leads them to success in the years to come.
