West Ham United are pushing hard to acquire the services of 20-year-old RSC Anderlecht centre-back Zeno Debast.
According to A Bola via SportWitness, West Ham United are looking to sign Zeno Debast ahead of next season. The Hammers want to reinforce their defence in the summer and they have just stepped up their interest in the 20-year-old RSC Anderlecht defender.
Debast has been a part of the Belgian club since his childhood days. He has come up the ranks at some pace and has been a part of their first team since the summer of 2021. The young centre-back has already featured in 90 matches for the senior team.
He is already a mainstay in their team and has featured in 34 matches this term. His impressive rise, consistent performances and huge potential have attracted a lot of attention. With his contract running out in the summer of 2025, a move away from the club in the summer is a real possibility.
Sporting CP have been in talks to sign the Belgian international for a while now. They were looking for a bargain deal but unfortunately, that might no longer be a possibility with West Ham United stepping up their pursuit.
West Ham United pushing for Zeno Debast’s signatures
The Hammers have been monitoring Debast for a while now. But, they were not making any serious moves so far. However, things have changed in the recent past. West Ham are now looking to bring in a new centre-back and the 20-year-old is now their top target.
The London club do not have much depth in the heart of their defence. They are looking for someone who can add depth as well as quality. With Angelo Ogbonna expected to part ways with the club at the end of the season, Debast could be an ideal replacement.
They have been intensifying contacts in recent days to land him at the club. While the report suggests that Anderlecht would have accepted an €18 million offer for the Belgian international, its fee could still rise to €20 million with potential bonus payments given West Ham’s involvement. The Premier League outfit will look to make the best use of their financial strength and outpower other interested parties.
