Richard Hughes considering Liverpool move for Tosin Adarabioyo

Liverpool have now joined Tottenham Hotspur in a mad scramble for soon-to-be free agent Tosin Adarabioyo’s signature with newly-appointed sporting director Richard Hughes pushing for a deal.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Liverpool are among a host of Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, weighing up a move for Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo ahead of the 2024 summer transfer window, although Fulham are set to offer him a new contract.

Liverpool have appointed Richard Hughes as their new sporting director, with the returning Michael Edwards making his first key appointment at Anfield. Hughes will take on the role that ally Edwards once held so successfully, and he now approaches a crucial summer transfer window.

The Reds are currently focused on finding a new manager as Jurgen Klopp prepares to leave at the end of the 2023/24 season.

In terms of center-back options, they currently have Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate, Jarell Quansah, and Virgil van Dijk, with uncertainty surrounding Joel Matip’s future. The veteran centre-half will become a free agent this summer, and as of yet, there’s no indication he will be offered fresh terms.

To that end, Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo has emerged as a low-cost option. The 26-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is said to be biding his time and weighing up his options.

A former Manchester City prospect, Adarabioyo, is finally realising his potential in west London. He has been key to the club’s success under Marco Silva.

Liverpool could get a steal if they are able persuade the former England Under-19 international to join them for free.

They would not have a free run at Adarabioyo, though. Tottenham remain attentive to the 26-year-old’s situation, having expressed their interest last summer and in January.

However, Ange Postecoglou’s side have already signed Genoa centre-back Radu Dragusin during the 2024 winter transfer window, so there’s no immediate need for another central defender, which may give the Reds’ an edge over Spurs.

Liverpool suffer blow in Tosin Adarabioyo’s pursuit

Despite Liverpool’s interest, talks are advancing over a new contract to keep Adarabioyo at Craven Cottage on a bumper deal. The Cottagers are keen to settle their plans for the summer and hope to find a resolution with Adarabioyo.

The West London side have made a new improved offer on the table from Fulham, which is too good to turn down, and there is now increased confidence he will put pen to paper to confirm his stay at the club, which means Liverpool will need to act fast behind the scenes to change the player’s mind.
