Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on 21-year-old German forward Maximilian Beier.
As revealed by German journalist Florian Plettenberg on X, Premier League giants Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are keeping close tabs on TSG Hoffenheim star Maximilian Beier ahead of the 2024 summer transfer window.
The German striker has been one of the Bundesliga’s best players this season and has 12 goals and five assists in 25 top-flight matches. This has helped Hoffenheim occupy the eighth spot in the Bundesliga standings, with an outside chance of securing European qualification.
A rising star in German football
Beier’s rise to prominence is especially key given that the European Championship is around the corner. Germany have not been at their dominant best in the last two international tournaments and Julian Nagelsmann would do well to include players who are in form for his tournament roster.
At 21, Beier is young and his best years are ahead of him. The striker could provide Nagelsmann with a focal point in attack, one with immense potential and who could lead the line for his nation for years to come.
Given his rising name, Beier is expected to leave Hoffenheim in the summer. The youngster is likely to make a decision on his future before the Euros kick-off and it would appear he has no shortage of suitors.
Spoilt for choice
The German’s performances have not been lost on the top teams from across the Channel. Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are among the sides keeping tabs on the Hoffeinham man.
The Gunners have emerged as a formidable side in recent years but lack a reliable striker who can lead the line. Gabriel Jesus has his moments but is not the clinical frontman that Mikel Arteta needs to take his side to the next level. While Victor Osimhen continues to be linked with a move to the Emirates, Beier’s relatively modest asking price of around €30 million offers better value for money.
Manchester United signed Rasmus Hojlund last summer. But adding Beier into the mix will certainly open up more tactical opportunities for Erik ten Hag. Beier’s ability to play anywhere along the frontline will further add to his appeal.
A move to Liverpool could very well see Beier become a part of the club’s revamp. But with Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo already at Anfield, he could struggle to secure regular playing time. More so, the young German could also hinder the progress shown by youngster Jayden Danns.
With several other English Premier League sides also interested, Beier is unlikely to have a shortage of options. The team who come out on top could very well end up with one of Europe’s most promising young strikers for a song.
