Newcastle United keen on Oleksandr Zinchenko

Newcastle United are reportedly keen on Oleksandr Zinchenko ahead of the summer window, with Bayern Munich also keen.

According to Fichajes, Arsenal star Oleksandr Zinchenko could have a decision to make ahead of the summer, with Newcastle United reportedly keen on the Ukrainian and as are Bayern Munich. The 27-year-old has had his injury issues since joining the Gunners, although he remains crucial to Mike Arteta’s plans.

Newcastle United keen on Oleksandr Zinchenko

Newcastle United are in the market for new defenders and could look at several options that bring more to the table. For instance, they have been looking for an alternative to their left-back slot as they seek to move away from Dan Burn and Matt Targett in the summer.

Eddie Howe recently confirmed their intention to trigger Lewis Hall’s buy option, which would see Chelsea rake in £30 million for their homegrown defender. Should they move away from Dan Burn in that left-back slot, they have a target in mind, with 27-year-old Arsenal utility man Oleksandr Zinchenko popping up on their shortlist.
The chase may prove interesting, considering what Zinchenko brings, as he usually slots into midfield from his left-back position. He gives Arsenal a different dimension in their style, which Newcastle United might have looked at closely.
Should they consider a move, Arsenal will only entertain offers that match their valuation for the 27-year-old, which will undoubtedly be on the higher side. Newcastle United might take their chances if they can land an experienced and skilful player like the Ukranian. However, all eyes will be on the price the Gunners will demand.

Bayern are also interested; Arsenal unlikely to sell?

As per the report, Bayern Munich are also keen with the Bundesliga giants p[probably looking at options to replace Real Madrid-linked Alphonso Davies. Zinchenko will be a superb option to consider, although Mikel Arteta considers him vital to his long-term plans.

Back in September, there was talk about a new contract for Zinchenko, although there are no suggestions Arsenal are not planning to renew his deal. For now, they are focused on extending Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White’s deals, and after that, they will look at the Ukrainian situation with ease.
