Predicted Liverpool lineup against Brentford: Kelleher in for Alisson; Salah to return

Mohamed Salah will return to the Liverpool starting lineup against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.

Liverpool did well to bounce back from the defeat against Arsenal, and they need to put together a winning run now. Manchester City and Arsenal are breathing down their necks, and Liverpool cannot afford to drop points in the title race as they get set to take on Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Reds have several injury problems to deal with, and this is going to be a tricky outing for them. Joel Matip and Stefan Bajcetic were already long-term absentees for the Premier League leaders. Thiago Alcantara returned to action against Arsenal and picked up another injury. The Spaniard is unlikely to play a game this season.

The return of Mohamed Salah and Connor Bradley will certainly be a boost for Liverpool. But they are still missing Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szoboszlai. Meanwhile, Alisson Becker was expected to start against Brentford.

But the Brazilian international has picked up a hamstring injury in training, and he will be sidelined for a while. Kostas Tsimikas is still recovering from his collarbone injury as well. Meanwhile, Klopp discussed team news updates during his pre-match press conference.

Klopp said, “Mo is back in full training, [so] that brings him automatically in contention of course. Ibou is not suspended anymore, Joey is fit again, Conor is back so that’s all positive. Thiago, no. And Trent not [available], that’s true.”

Liverpool are likely to make a number of changes because of injuries, and Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to start in goal. The Reds will shape up in a 4-3-3 formation, with Conor Bradley and Andrew Robertson starting as the full-backs. The two players will look to help out in the attack and keep things compact at the back. Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk will form the central defensive pairing.

Wataru Endo will anchor the midfield and provide defensive cover to the side. Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones will add creativity and control in the middle of the park. Salah is unlikely to start here after returning from injury, and he could be on the bench. Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz are likely to start as the wide players and Darwin Nunez will lead the line.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Kelleher; Bradley, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Endo, Jones; Jota, Nunez, Diaz
