According to Globo, Arsenal winger Marquinhos could move to Fluminense as the two clubs hold advanced talks. The 20-year-old attacking prospect was recalled from his loan with Nantes and now looks destined to return to Brazil as he could prioritise his participation in the Olympics during the summer.
Fluminense to loan Marquinhos
As per the report, Fluminense are open to taking Marquinhos on loan for the remainder of the English season and even paying the Gunners a fee for the deal. There is a chance the Brazilian club might have a purchase option for the 20-year-old attacking prospect, as Arsenal are not prepared to oppose the move.
However, negotiations between the clubs are far from complete at this stage but are considered very advanced. Brazilian media and their English counterparts have widely reported that the 20-year-old attacking prospect will make the move.
Earlier, he was linked with Corinthians, but now Fluminense appear destined to take the winger on a temporary deal with the view of making it permanent. The critical factor mentioned in the report points towards the Olympic games in the summer, with Marquinhos expected to play a part in the Brazilian football team.
Arsenal would have liked to loan him to another European team, but the circumstances have changed for the player since. As with many Brazilian players, they might prefer to take part in the national team activities, especially in the Olympics.
Does Marquinhos have a future at Arsenal?
As things stand, Marquinhos may not have a future at Arsenal despite Mikel Arteta giving it a shot. Signed from Sao Paulo in a €3.5 million deal in the summer of 2022, Marquinhos made an instant impact, but soon his difficulties emerged, and he disappeared into the periphery.
